Officials,
On behalf of the ILOA Board, welcome to the 2016 lacrosse season. Games are underway and we want you to be prepared and ready for the demands of the season. Please review the checklist below to make certain you’re ready to hit the field:
- RULES TEST – If you haven’t done so, you must take both the Youth Rules and the NFHS Rules tests, found on the Arbiter USL Central Hub. Youth officials, if you have any questions, please contact Paul Deinlein, Youth Officials Coordinator.
- SCRIMMAGES – All officials, both new and returning are required to work a scrimmage. If you’re having difficulty making any of the scheduled scrimmages, please contact an assigner or myself.
- UNIFORMS & GEAR – All Officials are expected wear the correct uniform, have the required gear and to look sharp and professional on the field. Please click here for the Equipment and Uniforms page on our website. I promise you, it’s easier to do your job and earn respect from coaches when you are dressed the part. For uniform and gear questions and support, please contact me.
- ARBITER –Please keep Arbiter up-to-date with your availability. The assigners have a tremendous amount of games to assign and it definitely makes their job easier when Officials can accept versus decline assignments. We understand life and work happen, but do your best.
- CREW CHIEF’s and “R’s” – The referee has the responsibility for his or her crew. Be sure to use the Coaches Certification cards, conduct a thorough pregame with your crew and complete any reports or post-game actions that are required. When you have any game incidents to report or even a game that you feel you just need to talk about, be sure to contact someone from the Liaison Committee or an assigner (see contacts, below).
- REFERENCES – There are numerous resources available to you as an Official. Click here to go to our very own website which has Arbiter tutorials, printable game day reference materials, rules and topics for review, 2 and 3-man mechanics guides and much more.
Without question, our job is much easier and more fun when we are prepared. Be sure to check off any items you need to from the above list and feel free to contact me or anyone from the ILOA Board with questions. You have our support and we wish all of you a great season.
